Chayote is a gourd vegetable widely cultivated in almost all of the Asian countries. Chayote is also known by a simpler name ‘chow chow’ and its linguistic variants in different Asian countries. The sprouting chayote is more popular with the cuisines than the matured ones. The pear-shaped chayote is light green in colour and is used against cholesterol being rich in fibre.
