Asia Market, the longest established shop on Drury Street, will be joining the festivities on this culturally rich thoroughfare when Alive After Five puts the focus on it on Thursday, 2nd November from 6pm onwards.
Howard Pau had the vision to open Asia Market on Drury Street way back in 1981 when the foodstuffs of the Continent were a rarity and Dublin’s Asian communities were a fraction of what they are today. For Alive After Five this year, Asia Market, now run by Howard’s daughter Eva Pau will be hosting several tastings both inside Asia Market and outside in Drury Street.
These include Dublin’s first outdoor experience of “Japas”, a combination of tapas and gyoza dumplings in association with Ajinomoto, and there will be Korean style mandu dumplings in the store. Coca-Cola will be spinning their Lucky Wheel and Yakult will be offering the chance to taste the world’s leading probiotic drinks. For anyone looking for the spice and crunch of great pickles, there’s an opportunity to try the outstanding Heera range while you can also see how to elevate many of your own dishes with the brilliant sauces from Chimac, produced by the now legendary Chimac Korean fried chicken restaurants on Aungier Street and in Terenure.
Moutai is China’s leading brand of baiju, a very exclusive and upmarket spirit and customers will have a rare opportunity to try Moutai cocktails inside the Drury Street store.
