The Lantern Festival of China, which is also called the Spring Lantern Festival, and Yuan Xiao Festival, is celebrated on the last day of the Chinese New Year celebrations. It falls on the fifteenth day of the Lunar calendar. The most significant activity associated with this festival, as its name indicates, is the lighting up of Chinese lanterns to make the whole atmosphere vivid and brightly illuminated.

This is primarily done to honour the first full moon of the year. Ball-shaped rice dumplings called Tangyuan is the primary food delicacy associated with the festival. It is usually a sweet dumpling and symbolises a sweet end to the festival.
