Mid-Autumn Festival is the harvest festival of China, and it is the second largest festival of the country after Chinese New Year. This festival is an occasion to share joy with the family members during the middle of autumn in the harvest season. Celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month according to the Chinese Lunar calendar, this festival is also known as Chinese Moon Festival as it takes place on a full moon day.
To celebrate the festival, the Chinese traditionally prepare Mooncakes at home as an offering to the Moon. Nowadays, Mooncakes are the primary delicacy prepared and shared widely as part of the festival. This festival is celebrated by ethnic Chinese people worldwide.
