- Konjac/ konnyaku kuro ( yam tuber paste) — 1pc
- Miso – any miso would do (white/red) — 1tbsp
- Mirin — 1tbsp
- Tamari/ Soy Sauce - 1tbsp
- Sugar or Maple Syrup — 1/2tsp
- Water — 1tbsp
- Roasted White sesame seeds— 1tbsp
- Toothpicks / Bamboo skewers
Method
Step 1: Cut a small hole out of the bag of konnyaku yam paste. Drain all the water within and take the konnyaku out from the bag.
Step 2: Place the konnyaku on a chopping board, cut into a 2 cm by 2cm square blocks.
Step 3: Boil a pot of water and add the konnyaku into the hot water and let it cook for 2 to 3minutes. Pass it through a strainer to remove any excess water.
Step 4: To make the dengaku miso sauce, add the miso, mirin, tamari/soy sauce, sugar/maple syrup, and water into a bowl and mix together well with a whisk.
Step 5: Skewer the konnyaku with toothpicks or bamboo skewers. Place the skewered konnyaku onto a serving dish.
Step 6: Spread the prepared miso sauce on the surface and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
Step 7: Ready to serve.
